Five Beauty Accessories To Try

best-beauty-tools
When it comes to beauty tools, gadgets and accessories I'm quite ruthless with my picks! I don't often introduce new things into my routine, instead sticking faithfully to and repurchasing my most trusted items. But lately, I've introduced a few new things into my routine, along with a couple of re-discoveries, so I thought that I would share five accessories I have on trial right now!

An August To Do List

1. Get organised and back into a good routine. This year feels like it's just flying past and I've felt so behind and disorganised lately! I really want to re-structure my time this month so that I can successfully meal prep, declutter, sort through my ridiculously full photo library to free up space on my iPhone and get back on top of things! I find the best way for me to be productive is to quite literally map out my days, hour by hour, so I'll be giving this a go again in August!

A Gentle Routine For When You're Feeling Under The Weather.

pampering routine lush beauty blogger
Lately I've been feeling a little under the weather, possibly attributed to the blazing heatwaves then plummeting temperatures we've had this summer. My flat's temperature has flitted up and down, I've gone from living on ice creams and salads to making hearty, warming soups and stews. And I've been feeling a little worse off for it all!

Home Snippets - Summer

muji drawers makeup
I thought I would share a few corners from my home, snippets of the places that are very nearly finished. I've tried not to fall for the seasonal trends this summer, instead looking at and investing in timeless, loved pieces that will work all year round. There's also an absence of peonies in this year's post - I treated myself to just one bunch this year, as I'm saving up all my spare pennies for the wedding!

Kickstarting The Wedding Planning Process

It's been three years since we got engaged - since the initial time that I spend scouring bridal magazines, jumping into a whirlwind of planning and ideas. I'm beyond excited to kickstart the planning again, this time hopefully taking a slightly different approach!

More Summery Picks

Nuxe oil review
After the intense heatwave and Summer Solstice this week, there's no doubt that Summer has arrived here in the UK. Only now is the weather (finally!) ebbing away to slightly cooler days as British Summertime settles in.
As such, I've replaced my everyday products with fresh, summery picks - peach-pink blushers, long lasting lip creams and skin nourishing, pampering oils and lotions. Here's a few more summery picks that I've pulled out for the warmer days!

Summer Wishing

At the beginning of a new season I like to compile a wishlist of my favourite picks to sort through and then add a few new pieces to my collection. My list currently includes blush glittery socks, cute velvet flats, floaty summer skirts, dresses and a dreamy west elm desk - that I may have just snapped up for a steal in the sale here!

Budget Beauty, New Additions

Lately, instead of opting for the occasional high-end splurge, I've been picking bit's up here and there from affordable brands instead. I've found a few new beauty gems - staples to add to my routine. I thought that I'd share a round up of my new budget finds - all of which are at under £10 each!

A June To Do List

1. Vote. I believe that it's SO important to vote this month. Understanding policies and basic politics is something that's becoming increasingly important - vital to learn about. I've found tons of information online, even discussions on social media to be a real help (and this is from someone who previously, a few or so years back had little to no clue!). Hannah's post is well worth a read and links to a quiz that helps to match your views with the parties policies if your unsure who to give your vote to, also Fiona's post is a great read if it's your first time voting (or if you need a recap!).

Summer Beauty Prep

When the early morning air smells like coffee and strawberries and it's already sweltering hot inside, you know that summertime is certainly on it's way! As such, I've started the summer prep, introducing new beauty picks and products into my routine.
This year, I've opted for a slightly different vibe/twist for summer - think enchanted woods rather than beachy chic - with a shimmering body oil and a few creamy coral pink lipsticks thrown in for good measure!

Five Loves This April

The brief balmy days have frozen over, bringing winter back with sleet, hail and even snow making an appearance this month! I have to say, I adore the cosy, rainy days - especially for welcoming back comforts like hot drinks, lush baths and spiced porridge again, if only for a short while!
This month seems to have flown by, a mixture of long weekends and busy days speeding up time. Here's five things I've adored this month!

A Dreamy Bag & What's Inside!

Powdered pink, classic gold detailing - I just couldn't resist this dreamy bag! It has a high end feel about it - almost similar in style to the Chloe Drew, but unique enough to not be just a copy. And one that won't set you back anywhere near as much! This affordable pick is ideal for weddings, spring lunch dates - or to use as an everyday bag! It's definitely a little more mauve-powdered pink than I expected - it looks more blush on the site, but beautiful nonetheless!

Peachy Cheeks For Spring

Last weekend's mini heatwave has spurred me on to finally part with the last of the winter blusher hues and pull out a few of my favourite peach picks to add to my daily routine. Peach is such a flattering hue, it perks up tired skin giving a healthy flush to my make up - the ideal shade for spring!

First up is my newest blusher - Nars Deep Throat, the perfect spring hue. A gorgeous peach with a hint of shimmer, this complexion boosting blush is my new everyday, go-to pick. Like all Nars blushers that I've tried, it's saturated, has a luxe, buttery texture and blends seamlessly. One to pair with dewy skin, the peach tones help to lift and brighten for a peachy, perky look for spring!

The Hourglass blush in Diffused Heat is such a flattering pick! The combination of dreamy pink pigments with peach undertones and swirls of radiance boosting ambient lighting powder work to create a heavenly glow. It's finely milled texture glides effortlessly over the cheeks for a flawless, polished finish and leaves a beautiful soft focus to the skin. Divine!

Next up is an old favourite, Sleek Rose Gold. A gorgeous coral pink with a peach gold sheen, this beautiful blusher gives a wash of light and warmth to the complexion. Another buttery pick, this silky soft pick imparts an impressive glow - often radiant enough to forgo the highlighter (on the cheekbones at least!).

The last pick in my spring line-up is the H&M Pure Radiance Powdered Blusher in Golden Peach. This affordable, deep pink/peach blush lives up to it's name - it's infused with shimmery, complexion enhancing pigments which perk up the skin with radiance and light. I usually opt for this on rainy spring days, it gives a gorgeous warm glow and looks so pretty paired with a champagne highlighter!

What are your favourite spring blushers?

A Simple Three-Step Sunday Facial

sunday facial
Sunday's, for me, are all about keeping things slow, simple and unhurried. After a lazy Sunday spent pottering, reading or binging on Gilmore Girls, I don't normally feel up to doing a full on, multi-product facial routine.
Although, I do still like to pamper - really taking my time with each product, slowly massaging, working it in, whilst still keep things straightforward - using just three choice picks to help my tired skin!

Knitting
Not just for Autumn/Winter, Spring is the ideal time to knit and to start working on a snug blanket. That way, when the colder months roll round again your blanket will be nearly finished! I've combined stockinette stitch (knit one line, purl one line - love this easy to follow along tutorial) with this gorgeous wool that's speckled with peach, pink and lilac. Fresh, Spring Lush Picks

lush-spring-collections
As tree's unfold in full bloom, sleepy queen bee's drift in the mild breeze and the first signs of hayfever tickle your nose, it's truly beginning to feel like spring! I take this as an indicator, a green light of sorts to kickstart the spring cleaning - clearing clutter and ensuring that every corner of my home is squeaky clean! Whilst tackling my bathroom, I noticed that my Lush supplies were dwindling, my last sparkly pumpkin a crumbly, sorry mess and a lonely magic wand with the bell missing from the festive season. I decided to take to Lush to spy their new spring collections and to replenish my stash. I thought I would share the pieces that caught my eye, along with a couple of old favourites that always make a re-appearance for me at this time of the year too!

Writing Posts, A Few Tips

Writing is something that I've totally fallen in love with through blogging. I've opted for an affordable Ikea desk for the time being, I'm still not used to such a vast space! If anything, the desk is perhaps a little big for me, but It's ok for now, until I can find one a little smaller and with a drawer or two to store my notebooks and paperwork in!

A March To Do List

1. Spring Clean.

2. Pick up new home decor pieces for spring, switch out wintry hues and replace with fresh, airy picks suited for the warmer months ahead!

3. Spend sunny weekends blossom spotting - look out for cherry blossom and magnolias (my fave!).

4. Invest in another Calvin Klein bralette, after umming and arring over these super soft picks, I finally took the plunge and it's safe to say I'm in love! They're SO comfy, I have my eye on this blush pink one next!

5. Work on a dressing area. Now that I've started to streamline my wardrobe I want to create a pretty area that inspires me to wear more. I've neglected my rail since the move and so plan to fill it with blush picks, bags and hats again!

6. Try some Pixi skincare, to help fix my post winter skin - the milky hydrating mist sounds dreamy!

7. Bake. I'm already missing the cosy comforts of autumn and so I'm planning to whip up a spiced cinnamon apple crumble laced with vanilla and drizzled with (vegan) cream.

8. Keep a positive mindset. Whilst spring marks new beginnings, lighter, longer days and fresh blooms, for me it's a reminder that summer's on it's way - I'm truly an autumn/winter girl at heart. I'm throwing myself fully into self care - new hobbies, listening to Ed Sheeran's new album, a little exercise and earlier nights to keep my spirits high!

9. Make fresh tea infusions. With sliced ginger root and a squeeze of lemon - great for anti-inflammatory, antibacterial properties and skin benefits. Or steeping fresh mint leaves in hot water to aid digestion, it tastes delicious too!

10. Check out the Essie X Monique Lhuillier range, the shades are SO beautiful - plus, they're made by my dream dress designer!

Four Go-to Essie Shades

best essie nail polishes
essie favourites
So far this year, I've been flitting between four Essie shades that I just can't get enough of. These gorgeous picks are pretty much all I've been wearing - they're constantly on rotation!

Normally, around this time of the year I would reach for pastels or brights but instead I've been preferring to opt for classic reds and muted tones for the lead up to spring. Who knows, I may still reach for bright coral pinks or cool mint hues when the weather gets a little warmer, but for now, I'm loving these classy and understated shades!

Probably my favourite classic red, Essie Aperitif is a gorgeous, timeless cherry red that works all year round. A suits all shade, this gorgeous rouge is my go-to when I'm not sure what to wear - it's the kind of shade that you can swipe on and instantly feel more put together. One of my all time favourites!

I'm so in love with Essie Eternal Optimist, a spiced tea rose this pretty pink pick is so flattering on. It's thick, creamy formula is one that I adore - it's lasting and opaque in just one coat (although I normally opt for two). This delicate rosy pick pairs so well with gold jewellery, white tops, black jackets - also it's ideal for brightening up a gloomy day!

For an everyday shade, Essie Maximilian Strasse Her is the one. A gorgeous muted grey/blue with a hint of mint (depending on the light) this versatile hue compliments the change of seasons perfectly. Another creamy formula, this applies like a dream on my nails and lasts well too!

Lastly, the only real bright in this round up, Essie Fifth Avenue is a divine, glossy orange red - it's so chic! The warm orange tones pair so well with blush pinks, it's a staple guaranteed to last me through Spring to Autumn!

What are your go-to shades at this time of the year?

Asos Transitional Picks

After a huge wardrobe clear out I took to Asos for a little browse, to find picks for the upcoming months and to look for new staples to add to my collection...

I've picked pieces for the transition into spring, warm knits and cute sunnies too! I'm planning on investing on staples that I can mix and match together and that will hopefully last me a while - a striped tee, a cosy jacket and a floral dress to name a few! It wouldn't be an Asos wishlist without a pair of pyjamas or two too, I may have already snapped up this gorgeous satin set!

Here's my winter to spring, transitional picks!

Five Loves This February

The frost bitten, winter days have melted away briefly as milder weather sweeps in, rousing bee's and causing trees to bloom in it's wake. It's starting to feel like spring, and in this seasonal shift I've been exploring new hobbies, coveting spring style pieces and reaching for dewy, radiance boosting make up to leave my skin glowing. I thought that I would share a few things that I've been loving of late, from books to beauty!

Red & Blush Pink
My latest obsession, I just can't get enough of this eccentric colour combo! I normally pick a warm toned, orange based red and start with something small like a red mani, or lipstick to pair with a blush knit. The Essie Polish in Fifth Avenue is a gorgeous orange red - ideal for a polished mani or painted on in cute heart shaped tips!

Getting Lost In A Book
Whilst Caraval was similar in style to the magical, ethereal Night Circus, it was a little different to what I expected. Despite a few frustrating parts, I was gripped from beginning to end whilst lost in this enchanting read. Mystery, adventure and with a glimmer of darkness, it follows the story of two sisters who enter Caraval, a once a year, week long performance where the audience participates in the show. It tricks, misleads and plays games with the reader with it's twists and turns as you follow their journey through Caraval. With romance, enchantments and whimsy, this compelling read is certainly entertaining!

Greenery
Along with scattering fresh blooms, plants and foliage around my apartment, I've fallen for floral and leaf print pieces too. This adorable make up bag is the perfect size to hold my everyday make up and the dreamy Diptyque Rosa Mundi candle has been brightening up my dressing table. I can't wait for tulips, daffodils and cherry blossom to be in full bloom, but for now my home is filled with greenery!

Wardrobe Updates
After a huge clear out, I'm focusing on staple pieces and on creating a more minimal wardrobe stocked with just the things that I love. I adore this cropped blush jumper, it's ideal paired with a-line skirts (similar one to mine above here) or black skinny jeans. These Topshop loafers are another new find, they're chic and so comfortable!

Nars Make Up
I've always been a fan of Nars, but more and more they're becoming a top contender for my all time favourite make up brand. I'm slowly building up quite a collection, opting for their dreamy offerings on an everyday basis. Nars lip pencils are unreal - creamy, pigmented and long lasting, some of the best that I've tried! I also adore Nars Blushers, Deep Throat is a gorgeous, peachy pick that perks up the complexion! Lastly, I've mentioned my love for the Nars Radiance Primer a few times this month, with SPF35, skincare benefits and peach pink light reflecting pigments, it's ideal for boosting tired, lacklustre skin - how pretty is the packaging too?!

A Make Up Reshuffle

dressing-table-pintrest
make up storage

At even a whisper of spring, I get the urge to start clearing out, sorting through and rearranging my home! Starting with my beauty products, I spent a little while this week rifling through my stash, pulling out old favourites, tucking vampy hues to the side and boxing up any unloved make up to send off to give and makeup.

This is my current set up, I've moved around my brushes (storing them in a cute H&M home glass for now), sorted through my dressing table drawer and started to slowly whittle down my stash. I think it works for now! My beloved muji drawers house most of my luxe picks, making it a real treat to reach into a draw and pick up a MAC lipstick or Nars blusher to apply.

floral make up bag

I've packed my everyday make up in this gorgeous floral & leaf print make up bag. It's the ideal size and perfect for on the go. A few daily picks include the Sleek Contour Kit, a handy kit that makes sculpting effortless with it's easy to work with shades, Topshop Glow Highlighter in Polish (this ethereal cream highlighter is unreal!) and the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blusher in Diffused Heat, a radiant coral blush. I've also been using the Nars Radiance Primer for a dewy glow, the Nyx Jumbo Eyeliner in Milk to brighten up my tired peepers and the gorgeous Charlotte Tilbury Kissing Lipstick in Coachella Coral!

I'm trying to incorporate a little more greenery and foliage around my home, to improve the air quality, brighten up the place and make it feel fresh and new. The Diptyque Rosa Mundi candle fit's in beautifully, it's whimsical scent of rose, bergamot and lychee is divine - how dreamy is the packaging?!

malm dressing table drawer

Inside my drawer I have sections for eyeshadows, blushers and palettes - it's basically an extension of my everyday favourites! I'm looking to replace the white boxes with something a little more sturdy, the muji pots look ideal. It also houses my fragrances too!

I store the rest in my Alex drawers, for now, but I'm looking for a better solution - something practical but pretty! - What do you think of my current set up?
