A New Year Make-Up Shake-Up

I'm not sure whether it's because spring is just around the corner but I've been really in the mood for a good clear out- starting with my make up!
I have a tendency to hang onto old things 'just incase' or because the packaging is so pretty and I can't bear to part with it. So after a ruthless sort through of my stash, I've made a few new purchases, a repurchase or two and said goodbye to some old, expired makeup!

My goals moving forward are to streamline my beauty products and to treasure the things that I have, finding steadfast staples. Downsizing to a smaller, west elm table would be the dream, fitting all of my make up in the drawers along with my muji drawers... but until it hits the sales, that's unlikely to become a reality for a while, and so for now I'm keeping my daily picks all together in my cute new velvet make up bag while I tackle the mammoth task of rearranging the rest!

The IT cosmetics CC cream is one of the latest additions to my bag, I've been looking to switch up my base for a while now and so finally caved for this cult, highly recommended base. It's one of my favourite things when make up combines with skincare and this one truly fits the bill! I've tested it a few times now and I love the finish, longevity and how it leaves me with glowy, hydrated skin! Also, I love the fact that it contains SPF50 as a good spf is something lacking from my skincare routine!

For primer, I've been trialling the Becca Backlight Priming Filter, a dewy, radiance boosting, nourishing primer. I also have a sample of Charlotte Tilbury's Wonderglow, which I think I slightly prefer more, I'll have to decide which one to invest in!

Another base product, I've been after a new concealer for a while now, dark circles are seriously my nemesis! I've been torn between this Too Faced pick and the Tarte Shape Tape concealer (I spent a good time pouring over Jasmines super-helpful post!) and in the end, as this one is slightly better for drier skin types, I opted for the too faced born this way multi-use sculpting concealer. I'm still working out the best powder to pair with it, but it lasts all day and keeps my eyes hydrated. The colour match (I wear light beige) is pretty spot on too! It's slightly worse at creasing than my usual collection concealer, but I've read that if powdered straight away that combats this, so I'll give it a try next time I use it!

For my lips, I've been keeping things simple with a slick of Burts Bee's Lip Balm in Pomegranate. I fully admit I bought this after finding out that the mua used this to prep the actresses lips on Reign (I have such a girl crush on Adelaide Kane!). The Lipstick Queen lipstick in Medieval, also used on the show, is next on my list!

A repurchase, my trusty IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara is next up. I find that some Mascaras can quite easily irritate my sensitive eyes but this is one I can wear this daily with absolutely no problems. I'm convinced it actually makes my natural lashes longer too! I love pairing it with my Surratt eyelash curlers for fluttery lashes!

I've been reaching for this beautiful Urban Decay palette *(gifted to me by the lovely world duty free!) daily, the blush and bronzer are beautiful and it's such a handy palette to carry around!

Lastly, for eyes I've added the dreamy Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow quad in pillow talk to my make up bag. I'm so happy that Charlotte Tilbury has brought this beautiful palette back! The shades are so flattering, blendable and pigmented. It's everything I want in an eyeshadow palette!

Have you tried any of these?
